Discover an 18th-century adventure nestled on the edge of a continent--a
place where muskets and mortars, women in hoop skirts and men in wigs, town
criers and the ’iron collar’ are a part of everyday life.

is the Visitor Centre, just beyond the modern town of Louisbourg. Ample
free parking is available. You’ll take a 7-minute bus ride from the Visitor
Centre to the Fortress. Remember to bring your camera, comfy shoes and warm
clothing!

The restored railway station (1985) exhibits the history of the S&L Railway, railway technology and marine artifacts. The original freight shed houses a working model of the line. Rolling stock includes two passenger cars (1881, 1914) a box car, tank car and caboose. Admission free.
